Fall and Halloween

Jacob's version of helping rake the leaves.

Jacob was Batman for Halloween this year. Chesney had a matching costume as well. :) Posing in hunting gear with the halloween yard decorations. That cat was pretty lucky Jacob didn't shoot him down!

These pictures are from his school party and costume parade.

Hunting Season

Jacob has been really excited about hunting season. He's now got the full outfit and toy rifle. And is talking constantly about going hunting in Kansas.

Friends

Jacob and Cameron have been friends since they could barely walk. Both are turning 5 this year and looking like they will be fellow trouble makers for many years to come!

Annual trip to Little Squaw

The Simpsons made the annual trek to Little Squaw this summer in late July. (Joined by Grandma Kay & Larry Simpson, Papa, Nana, Kelsey and me.) Jacob had been looking forward to the trip for weeks.... excited about fishing, four-wheeling, and getting dirty. As usual, the two weeks went by far too quickly, and now that its over we're all looking forward to next year. The video below is the first of several posts to follow. Enjoy this one for now!

T-Ball

Jacob played T-ball this spring and had a blast. He seems to like playing baseball a lot more than soccer. Maybe that's because he's really good at it.

Getting ready for the next batter. The team name was the Pirates, so of course there is an "ARRRRRRGGGGG!!!!" that goes along with this stance.

Playing shortstop and making the throw to first base.

Playing defense was always a rush by the players to be the first one to the ball. This usually turned into a wrestling match between several of the boys.

Jacob was hands-down the best hitter on the team. He goes up to bat each time to "hit the crap out of it!" Almost every hit made its way into the outfield.

Sliding into homebase. He's got the slide down, its just actually getting to the base that needs a little practice.

Its hard to tell where the ball goes in this video, but you can tell by the time Jacob makes it to the base where the ball is being thrown in from. :)

Another video, this one of Jacob rounding third and making the slide into home.

Trick Rider!!

Jacob has really come far with his bike riding skills. He hangs out with the neighbor Nick a lot who has taught Jacob how to jump the ramps. He's darn good!!
By the way....these pics were taken in May, Jacob has a new 20" bike now. :)

Spring Soccer

Jacob played on his first soccer team this spring. Mom was the coach and the team was a great group of boys. All of the games were at the Stenger soccer complex...another staple of growing up in Arvada, I think we've all played there!

At this age, they start out at 3 on 3. And most of the game they all just group up on the ball.

But as the season wore on, they all got the hang of it.

Here's Jacob anticipating the kick off.
Jacob wasn't always entirely eager to play.....

but with a little coaxing, and a bribe from dad to get paid for each goal, he was out on the field trying to score.

Even if it meant stealing the ball from a teammate....
or scoring in the wrong goal. :)

New Year...New Dog

New Years Eve has never been known to be a quiet one with the Simpsons...and this year...they got a new dog. Ask Jacob what his dog's name is and he'll tell ya "his name is Chesney. His last name is Kenny Chesney."

Welcome Chesney to the family!

Chesney was not ready to put the Christmas tree away...

Sledding with Jacob.

Blog vs. Webpage

Well....I'm sure that anyone who has checked out Jacob's website any time in the last year (ok...maybe longer) has noticed that I have not been as diligent as we all would have hoped about posting updates. Ok...I've been horrible at it.

A lot of that had to do with lack of time on my part, but some of it was also how time consuming it is to maintain a website. So I've been reading several blogs that my friends put together, as well as Cousin Reese's blog out in Kansas...and I figure that if Meghan can update a blog, complete with adorable pictures, then I should be able to easily (and often!) maintain a blog with more frequent updates.

Once I get this thing mastered, I also plan to teach Michelle and John how to log in and post their own comments and pictures and get Mom and Dad's perspective every now and then. :)

Shoot....maybe we'll even get Jacob to help us out!!
